This week I went to an Apple Store to upgrade form my iPhone 3G to a new 32 GB iPhone 3G S, thinking AT&T was giving the option to iPhone 3G users who got the iPhone between July – September a good upgrade price meaning 199 or 299. Turns out yes we are getting early upgrade price of 399 or 499 depending on the model we want to get, and if you didn’t get it those dates you have to pay full price 599 or 699.
AT&T come on, iPhone users have the most expensive minute plan because we don’t get a regular plan as other users, but instead we have to pay a more expensive plan with less minutes, with an expensive data plan, plus an additional sms plan. If thats not enough we have to wait TWO YEARS before we can upgrade to another phone. AT&T if you want to keep the exclusivity agreement with Apple on the US be more flexible, we pay more money than other users and receive less benefits. I know the iPhone is the best phone out on the market but come on if you weren’t the only carrier with it on the US believe me I wouldn’t be an AT&T user.
Well, I always look on the bright side you make me pay more money, but with the new iPhone Firmware 3.0 Im getting my moneys worth with tethering for free and believe me its very good, very fast and best of all free for know so take advantage while this lasts. (You don’t have to jailbreak you iPhone for this to work just install the carrier settings for AT&T and thats it. Remember Rake Point doesn’t support this methods but we were testing it. If do this its at your own risk.)
The pictures that show iPhone on tethering mode are actually from iphonebuzz but the method used by them was not the one tried on our iPhone 3G.
Apple is rocking on September 9 with their iPod season. It look like we will see new thing for iPod Touch and iPod Nano. Some sources say that we can even see 10 different iPod’s Nano. We will keep you up-to-date on new things as they arise on the upcoming event next tuesday, September 9.
Here are 12 reasons by Dr. Mac regarding why college students should by macs insted of PC’s.
It’s back-to-school time again. So if you’re about to send your kid off to college with a new computer, here are some reasons to make that computer a Mac:
1. Issues are the last things a kid needs at college and Macs have fewer issues with viruses, malware, and icky stuff like that.
It has also been my experience that Macs have fewer issues with almost everything else, as well. This was my daughter’s first year away at college and she required technical help from me only once.
2. Most Macs sold today have a built-in video camera and iChat software. So it’s easy to communicate by video, audio, or even plain old text chat. Of course this assumes that you have a Mac of relatively recent vintage.
I think his right and nothing to argue with that Windows sucks and all the errors you get. On my experience I used Vista for like an hour and a half and I got like 10 errors and was extremely slow that I had to take my ipod and listen to music wile Vista responded. Needless to say it was a very good laptop. Intel core 2 duo, 2gb RAM and more. So why buy a Windows laptop for your kid if you could buy a mac? Why give them a box of problems if you could give them a box of solutions?
iPhone Firmware 2.0 has had several problems and apple seems to me aware of it so they have introduced an update today evening. It only notifies as bug fix update no new feature as we expected earlier (maybe copy & paste or turn by turn GPS) but we will have you up to date on what this update brings us.
I have discovered that Movistar Colombia (finally) has posted a teaser of the New iPhone 3G. When you enter the page the announcement appears. You can register and add your info so they can have you up to date on the iPhone launch. Comcel made that announcement a few days after the iPhone 3G was announce by Steve Jobs at the WWDC at San Francisco on June 9th.
RUMORS: We have been hearing that the launch date may be on August 20. Less than a month we think.
More good news to come, Apple has launch an App Store in Colombia already and its working perfectly with Colombian credit cards. I have used mine and bought several Apps and has been a great experience, but iTunes only lets you access the App Store and not the music or video store. I was worried regarding the App Store in Colombia since Apple has lots of problems with international credit cards. You can uses the Colombian App Store without worries its a safe place to buy on the internet.
Here are some are some screenshots we captured on Movistar.
It seems just some few days or less left to see the new iPhone 3G unlocked, and lets not forget that this means that they have unlocked the new update called Firmware 2.0. We will have you up to date on news regarding iPhones Unlocked.
I have used for the new iPod Touch firmware 2.0 since friday it has been great, fast, and responsive.
Pros:
- App Store on iPod is great, the Apps download and are installed fast. You can get great Apps, such as Facebook(free), Super Monkey Ball($9.99), Google(free), Tap Tap Revenge(free) and much more.
- Mail App support 2008 excel, powerpoint and word documents.
- Mobile Me works very good as push mail and contacts, but calendar doesn’t work very good because it pushed my iCal appointments to the iPod but the iPod doesn’t push the new ones to the cloud.
- Apple remote works perfectly with my mac, but have had some trouble setting it up on my Vista. I love it best App ever. I thank Apple for giving it away for free. If you loved the small remote that the mac brought well is similar but you can see what you are playing and see what song comes next. Imagine having this remote at a party at your house?? YOU WILL ROCK!!! I recommend this remote and Super Monkey Ball to people that like games. Yes I know its hard at first with the accelerometer but after you get the hang of this it’s a great App to have fun while waiting at a doctors office, ext.
Cont:
- Mobile me still has to improve a little regarding the push service on the calendar on my experience.
- Some Apps freeze on the iPod when installing directly from the App Store at the iPod.
Il keep you up to date with news about the 2.0 firmware Update
