Here are 12 reasons by Dr. Mac regarding why college students should by macs insted of PC’s.
It’s back-to-school time again. So if you’re about to send your kid off to college with a new computer, here are some reasons to make that computer a Mac:
1. Issues are the last things a kid needs at college and Macs have fewer issues with viruses, malware, and icky stuff like that.
It has also been my experience that Macs have fewer issues with almost everything else, as well. This was my daughter’s first year away at college and she required technical help from me only once.
2. Most Macs sold today have a built-in video camera and iChat software. So it’s easy to communicate by video, audio, or even plain old text chat. Of course this assumes that you have a Mac of relatively recent vintage.

I think his right and nothing to argue with that Windows sucks and all the errors you get. On my experience I used Vista for like an hour and a half and I got like 10 errors and was extremely slow that I had to take my ipod and listen to music wile Vista responded. Needless to say it was a very good laptop. Intel core 2 duo, 2gb RAM and more. So why buy a Windows laptop for your kid if you could buy a mac? Why give them a box of problems if you could give them a box of solutions?

People are saying that Apple might announce the development of the next version of Mac OS X on June 9th. It seems they are looking to give developers an early version of Mac OS X 10.6 at the event. Apple is said to be more interested less in new features than and more on improving the overall speed, stability and security of Macs.
The major changes are said to be to eliminate Power PC support, and only leaving intel Macs. This will incentive developers to spend less time on universal Binaries. Its also said that Apple will consider wrapping the entire OS in Cocoa, granting use of the code to access functions which were only opened through Carbon. We think the code name may be “Snow Leopard” but it is not certain for now.
Reports claim a commercial release of the OS to be expected as soon as next year’s Macworld in January.
